Curriculum

• Cognitive - Familiarization with colors, shapes, letters, numbers, simple puzzles, and games. Following simple directions. Answering simple questions about stories that have been read. Name recognition and Counting.
• Creative Art - Teachers engage the children with a wide variety of methods of artistic expression including: Free Painting, Finger Painting, Collages, Thumb, Hand, and Fist Prints, Dot Art, Fruit and Vegetable Printing, Glue and Glitter Prints, Sponge Prints, String Painting, Blot Art, Marble Art, Texture Painting (with rice, sand, etc.), Paper Plate Art, Paper Bag Art, Tissue Paper Art, Roller Painting, Class Painting (murals), Holiday and Seasonal Art.
• Fine Motor - Manipulating stacking and interlocking toys, play dough, beads, blocks, puzzles, and sorting. How to hold scissors and cut paper, drawing with markers and crayons.
• Circle Time - Children continue development of social skills through Stories, Flannel Board Stories, Songs, Finger Play, Games, Movement, Sharing, and Birthdays. Group time is an important activity because it teaches children to sit and wait quietly, to take turns, follow directions, and express themselves in front of other children.
