How We Began
The school was first opened in 1983 as Stepping Stones & Pebbles. It has been owned since 1997 by two former preschool teachers and a parent of children they cared for. Together, the directors have over 50 years of preschool experience. Originally at the Covington school site, the school moved to Grant Park for a few years before arriving in 2005 at the present location back on Covington Road at the Blach Middle School campus.
We feel Stepping Stones is unique because we are the perfect size (not too large, not too small), we have a beautiful playground, we are located in a quiet residential neighborhood, and we are owner-operated. Being owner-operated enables the onsite directors to make decisions in the best interest of the children without waiting for approval from an owner or corporation.
We are licensed by the state of California for up to 80 children ages 6 wks to 5 yrs old. Our license numbers are 434408049 and 434408050.
Stepping Stones is a year-round for-profit preschool.
Days We're Closed
Stepping Stones closes the following days: President's Day, Memorial Day, Summer Break - entire week of 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Holiday Break - between Christmas and New Year's, and one staff development day.
Holidays We Observe and How
Stepping Stones is not aligned with any one religion. We observe the following holidays in a secular manner: Lunar New Year, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
